Banner Title: Nursing/Surgical Procedures This course provides an orientation to nursing care and surgical procedures and emphasizes the care of the patient and equipment, examination room procedures, anesthesia, and procedures in the surgery room. Topics covered in this course include general nursing care of patients; general care of equipment; aseptic techniques; surgery room procedures; groups of drugs; pharmacologic topics involving drug distribution, administration, and routing; inventory control and drug laws; and weights, measures, and the metric system. Field trips may occur on days other than scheduled class times. Students must pay a $25 supply fee when registering for this course. Prerequisite: VET 106 with a grade of C or better Corequisite: VET 102 Prerequisites/Corequisites for Spring 2009: VET 216 with a grade of C or better Offered Spring 2009, Winter term thereafter
