Description: A survey in English of literary contributions of Latino writers in the United States, this course studies the historical, sociopolitical, and cultural concerns of Latinos in the United States as these appear in novels, short stories, and poetry. These works provide a glimpse into the struggle for self-identity and self-determination and into the forces that interact in the course of this struggle and give the reader a glance into the magical world of different perspectives of reality. LIT. 370 requires writing of essays dealing with the materials covered. (Fulfills Associate degree Ethnic Studies requirement.) Transfer: CSU: C2, UC. (IGETC: 3B)
