Description: A survey of the influence of African Americans on American history through an examination of fiction and non-fiction. The literature sampled spans the history of African-Americans in America since 1619; explores the development of this ethnic group; analyzes the significance of African-Americans to the formation of this nation; and includes: autobiographical works, poetry, short stories, folk tales, novellas, films, music, and art.
