Units (Grade Option) 3; Class Hours: Minimum of 48 lecture hours/ semester; 2 five-hour field trips/semester; Recommended: Eligibility for READ 836, ENGL 836 or ESL 400, and MATH 110 or 111; Prerequisite(s): None. Description: A study of the geological hazards in California and especially in the San Francisco Bay area and how these hazards affect man's social and economic well-being. Topics include earthquakes, landslides and volcanoes. Extensive rock and map studies are included. Two field trips are taken along the San Mateo County coast. Transfer: CSU: B1, UC.
