Units 3; Class Hours: Minimum of 48 lecture hours/semester; Recommended: Eligibility for READ 836, and ENGL 836 or ESL 400; Prerequisite(s): SPAN 140 or equivalent. Description: This course is conducted solely in Spanish and focuses on reading and writing in Spanish. Students study Spanish grammar and orthography and develop their skills in reading and writing. Using oral and written Spanish to communicate on topics of interest, and through discussions of reading from authors of the Spanish speaking world, students enrich and strengthen their existing communicative abilities. Emphasis is also placed on the culture of Spanish speaking countries. (Follows SPAN 161) (Fulfills Associate degree Ethnic Studies requirement.) Transfer: CSU: C2, UC. (IGETC: 3B)
