(3 credits) F, SP Emergency Medical Technician-Basic covers objectives from Modules 1 to 7 of the U.S. Deapartment of Transportation, National Standard Curriculum for Emergency Medical Technician - Basic as they are applied to patients in the hospital and fi eld settings. This course includes a minimum of three 12 hour rescue shifts for a total of 36 hours of hospital emergency room experience, and a minimum of three 12 hour rescue shifts for a total of at least 36 hours of rescue experience which must include a minimum of 5 emergency responses with patient transports on designated units. Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Lab (EMS 1119L, Issues in Domestic Violence (WFHX 0018), Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (WFHX 0011), Basic Extrication (WFHX 0012) and Florida Level I Hazardous Materials Awareness (WFHX 0016) are required corequisites and satisfy additional educational requirements set up by the Florida Department of Education (Health CORE) and the Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (64E-2 FAC).
