(1 credit) (20 contact hours of lecture/lab) Provides an overview of the profession of physical therapy and a basic understanding of the theory and clinical skills necessary to function in the fi eld of physical therapy in a variety of rehabilitation settings. The course introduces topics to familiarize the student with physical therapy history and evolution, cultural diversity and competence, and domestic violence. An understanding of ethical and legal issues affecting the physical therapy profession is taught, with special regard for patient's rights to confi dentiality and dignity. This course is designed to engage the student in an active interest in the profession of physical therapy. Introductory elements of physical therapy profession explored in this course are developed and expanded in the Phase II of the PTA program's curricula. Pass with a C or better.
