(3 credits, 45 contact hours) F The student learns the basic terminology, abbreviations and units, and appropriate weights and measures needed to perform pharmaceutical calculations. Apothecary, avoirdupois, metric and household systems are an essential component of this course. Review of calculations dealing with decimals, fractions, ratio and proportion, percentages, ratio strength, reducing and enlarging formulas, percent solutions, IV drip rates and dilution and concentration problems are presented. Pass with a C or better. Prerequisite: TABE - Math 11.
