This course is a survey of the history and culture of the Cherokees. Topics include origins, belief systems, contact and conflict with European settlers, removals, and contemporary problems faced by the Cherokees. Upon completion, students should be able to analyze significant political, socioeconomic, and cultural developments in Cherokee history. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement for transferability as a premajor and/or elective course requirement. S11138
