Prerequisites: EDU 221 This course covers the causes and assessment of mental retardation and individualized instruction and curriculum for children with mental retardation. Emphasis is placed on definition, characteristics, assessment, and educational strategies for children with mental retardation. Upon completion, students should be able to identify, assess, and plan educational intervention strategies for children with mental retardation. This course is a unique concentration requirement in the Special Education concentration in the Early Childhood Education program. S11157
