A continuation of PHYS 1111, this course is an introduction to electromagnetic theory, optics, and modern physics. The subject matter includes electrostatic forces, potentials, electric current, DC and AC circuits, magnetic forces and fields, reflection and refraction of light, mirrors, lenses, interference, diffraction and polarization. The modern physics segment includes a brief description of relativity, atomic structure, and radioactivity. Prerequisite: MATH 1113, PHYS1111, and PLAB 1111 or permission of the instructor.
