This course is designed to provide and introduction to computer concepts and information processing. The course includes an overview of computer hardware, software, basic networking concepts, history of data processing systems, major trends in information systems, Information Superhighway, social issues and career opportunities in information processing. An integral part of the course is hands-on experience with current applications software in word procesing, electronic spreadsheet, database management systems and the internet. Prerequisite: Exit or exemption from Learning Support Reading and Mathematics.
