Class hours: 3.0 Lecture Recommendation: Satisfactory completion of English Placement Process or ENGL 52 or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher, and satisfactory completion of the Reading Placement Process or READ 54 with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher.This course introduces the student to the study of language from an anthropological perspective. Methodology, language and cultural meaning, status and language variation, acquisition of language, multilingualism, and language and institutions will be explored within a cross-cultural perspective.
