For the student majoring in engineering or science, this course is designed to present the fundamentals of chemistry and demonstrate their application through lecture and problem solving. Topics include: measurements, atomic theory, chemical reactions, equations, stoichiometry, solutions and solutionstoichiometry, gases and their properties, quantum theory, the periodic table, bonding theories, oxidation-reduction reaction, an introduction to thermo chemistry. Students without prior chemistry courses are urged to take CHEM 1151 and CLAB 1151 prior to enrolling in CHEM 1211. Prerequisite: MATH 1111 or MATH 1113 with "C" or better. Corequisite: CLAB 1211.
