Prerequisite: CHEM 1212 Analysis of alkanes, alkenes, and aromatic compounds, their structures and derivatives in which bonding, isomerism, nucleophilic substitution and elimination reactions. Functional groups like alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, halides and amines are introduced. The laboratory periods are designed to familiarize students with the preparation, properties, and relations of typical organic compounds.
