It examines the essential components of women's studies as an academic discipline; delineates theories of feminism and history of women' s movements; evaluates the social construction and politics of gender; analyzes the intersection of gender with race, ethnicity, social class and sexual orientation; and identifies the issues of feminism in a global context.
