Description:
This course provides an overview of computers and programming with emphasis on problem-solving and algorithm development. Topics include simple data types, arithmetic and logic operators, selection structures, repetition structures, text files, arrays (one-and-two dimensional), procedural abstruction and software design, modular programming (including subprograms or the equivalent). The principles/concepts outlined above are implemented using a high-level programming language. Prerequisite: MATH 1128, CSCI 1142, 1143, 1145 or 1146, satisfactory performance on an exemption exam or permission of the instructor.
