SUR 112 - Introductory Surgical Practicum

(Prerequisites: AHS 104, SUR 101 - taken no longer than 6 months prior to enrollment in SUR 112, SUR 108, SUR 109, SUR 110. Corequisite: SUR 102) Orients students to the clinical environment and provides experience with basic skills necessary to the surgical technologist. Topics include: scrubbing, gowning, gloving, and draping, assistance with patient care, processing of instruments and supplies, creation and maintenance of a sterile field, basic instrumentation, and environmental sanitation.
