Prerequisite: CP180 (Wide Area Networks) The course concentrates on learning Wide Area Networks (WAN), including technology, terminology, protocols, and related hardware. The Emphasis is on a detailed study of various types of modern WANs (ATM, SONET, RPR, X.25, Frame Relay, ISDN, Switched 56, SMDS, DSL, T1, T3, etc). Topics include telephone network (PSTN), VoIP, Wireless WAN, Internet. The other part of this course involves the study of internet working (routing, switching), multiplexing and other special WAN technologies.
