Class hours: 0.5 Lecture/1.5 Laboratory This foundational course explores the history, theory, and techniques which shape letterforms, past and present. Emphasis will be on developing skill and knowledge through the historical study of calligraphy and the manipulation of tools and materials. The Copperplate style will be studied through a modular approach beginning with linear forms, then flexible pointed pen forms. An appreciation for color, design, and the aesthetic qualities of letterforms will be stressed in their contemporary usage. This course may be taken for a maximum of 2 times. Transfer Credit: CSU
