2 credits quarters: Provides participants with a knowledge of assertiveness techniques and the skills to apply these techniques in everyday situations, with a special emphasis on employment issues. Expressing one s feelings, being understood, and communicating one s personal rights are skills which must be studied and practiced to be effective. The course will assist participants in expressing their ideas and feelings without anxiety. They will learn to exercise their own rights without denying the rights of others. These techniques are applied to issues such as salary, working conditions, and interpersonal relationships with employers and other employees. Prerequisite: Permission of instructor-Yakima campus only
