5 credits quarters: W All French courses will develop the language skills necessary for functional proficiency and creative use of the French language. Using a communicative and interactive approach, the student will explore the language, people, and culture of the French-speaking countries. Students will learn to talk and write about their lives and interests as well as explore the world of the French-speaking countries, dominions, and territories. The class includes an exposure to literary and cultural readings found in the textbook and in the instructor's handouts and materials. Students will be involved in situations which will test creative capacities and the ability to think and react quickly, all in French. Prerequisite: FREN 101, permission of instructor, or placement test Distribution: HM
