4 credits quarters: W, S This course is designed to prepare students for the state nursing assistant certification exam by expanding their knowledge in a clinical setting in the following areas: medical terminology, personal care skills, basic technical skills, mental health/social service needs, rights and independence promotion, infection control, safety/emergency procedures, rules and regulations pertaining to Washington State NAC requirements, communication/interpersonal skills, and job preparation. Prerequisite: Students must pass the theory class, NRSE 100, before being admitted into NRSE 101. In addition, all students must submit to a Washington State Patrol criminal history background check and be up to date on immunizations, i.e., Hepatitis B, MMR, tetanus, and PPD.
