It provides an overview of education in America, covering the historical, philosophical, and social foundations of education. Students will study current issues and trends in curriculum, instructional strategies, teaching as a profession, local concerns, and the future of education. They will also study a teacher's role and function in the school, the characteristics of a good teacher, and preparation for professional competencies and certification. Opportunities are provided for observation and integration of information as it relates to K-12 education. Prerequisite: Qualification for ENGL& 101, READ 101 and MATH 085
