5 credits quarters: S This course covers the nature and extent of the individual rights guaranteed by the U. S. Constitution with emphasis on the Fourth Amendment, which constitutes the heart of the law of criminal procedure. Students will be able to apply the law of arrest, search, and seizure to particular fact situations, identifying the individual's rights in issue and how it comes into conflict with law enforcement functions. Prerequisite: CJ 111 or permission of instructor
