3 credits quarters: W (Formerly CHEM 256: Organic Chemistry II Lecture & Lab) An introduction to organic chemistry for the student majoring in science or whose career path requires organic chemistry. This is part two of a three quarter sequence in organic chemistry. This course will cover functional group transformations, addition, elimination, nucleophilic substitution, and oxidation/reduction reactions. Functional groups studied will be alkenes, alkynes, alkyl halides, alcohols and ethers, amins and carbonyl compounds. Prerequisite: CHEM& 241 with a grade of C (2.0) or better. Distribution: NS
