2 credits quarters: W This second of two courses in the study of asepsis and infection control explores the impact of microbiology and asepsis on the practice of sterile technique and infection control in the operating room. Topics covered include bacteriology, pathogens of body fluids and systems, virology, parasitology, mycology, and wound healing with relation to how these affect surgical practice. Prerequisite: Acceptance into the Surgical Technology Program and successful completion of AHST 102 with a grade of C (2.0) or better
