This course provides an overview of drug use, misuse and abuse. The course is divided into three major topic areas. The first area provides an historical perspective of drug use, motivations, social implications and legal ramifications of drug use and factors affecting how drugs interact with the human body. The second area focuses categories of drugs and their psychological and physiological effects. The last area examines treatment and prevention modalities. Prerequisite: Minimum passing score on THEA reading test or concurrent enrollment in Reading 0307. Type: Acad
