Prerequisite: ENGR 2301 and MATH 3342. Applications of conservation principles and stress, strain (2-D)/deformation relationships for continuous media to structural members; axially loaded members; thin-walled pressure vessels; torsional and flexural members; shear; moment; deflection of members; combined loadings; Mohr's Circle (2-D); stability of columns; nonsymmetrical bending; shear center; indeterminate members. Students will be taught to use custom-made software to solve beam bending and deflection problems.
