Examines issues of diversity, oppression and social justice within a social work context. Students will become knowledgeable of people's biases based on race, ethnicity, culture, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, social and economic status, political ideology, disability and how these contribute to discrimination and oppression. Explores personal values, beliefs and behaviors which may limit their ability to practice with those from diverse cultures, family structures, and marginalized groups. Attention to the influence of dominant culture on these diverse and marginalized (population at risk) groups. Recommended Course: SOCW 398 - Advocacy and Human Rights
