This course gives practical ministry experience to: (1) provide an opportunity to apply faith to human need, (2) develop skills that equip the student for a specific ministry, (3) provide an opportunity for service to the church and the community, and (4) provide a context in which to develop and share a personal witness to Christ in word and deed. Integrates regular classroom support with 2-5 hours per week of on-site involvement in a church, agency, or other organization. Practicum options include: jail ministry, assisting in a pre-school, visiting with nursing home residents, tutoring inner-city youth, working with persons with AIDS, involvement with a church-based children's or youth ministry, and more. Faculty members serve as team advisors. Service Learning Practicum is taken as one credit per semester for two semesters [2 credits total].
