Principles of physical and historical geology. Study of the earth's composition, structure, and internal and external processes. Includes the geologic history of the earth and the evolution of life. Introduces the basic physical processes of the earth and their effect on man and his environment. Emphasizes plate tectonics, earth materials, weathering and the agents of erosion, and the development of landforms. The lab provides hands-on experience in rock and mineral identification and an introduction to geologic and topographic map interpretation. Three lecture and three laboratory hours per week. TSI Requirement: M2; R2; W1. Prerequisite: None. Lab Fee: $24
