Fundamental principles of living organisms including physical and chemical properties of life, organization, function, evolutionary adaptation, and classification. Concepts of reproduction, genetics, ecology, and the scientific method are included. BIOL 1409 is the second part of a two-semester introduction to these concepts. BIOL 1409 includes topics such as evolution, history of life, diversity and form and function of organisms, classification, and ecology. Other concepts are included in BIOL 1408. Emphasis will be placed on selected topics in contemporary biology. Three lecture and three laboratory hours per week. TSI Requirement: M2; R3; W1. Prerequisite: It is strongly recommended that students take BIOL 1408 before BIOL 1409. Lab Fee: $24
