SUR 112 - Introductory Surgical Practicum

(Prerequisites: Program admission, SUR 101, SUR 108, SUR 109-taken no longer than 12 months prior to enrollment in SUR 112; Corequisite: SUR 102, SUR 110) Orients students to the clinical environment and provides experience with basic skills necessary to the surgical technologist. Topics include: processing of instruments and supplies, scrubbing, gowning, gloving, and draping, assistance with patient care, maintenance of a sterile field, basic instrumentation, and environmental sanitation.
