This is a continuation of Medical-Surgical Nursing I with application of the nursing process to the care of adults experiencing medical-surgical conditions in the health-illness continuum. It includes a variety of health care settings. This course covers physiology and basic pathophysiology, causes of illness, communicable diseases and disease transmission and prevention. The role of the vocational nurse in preventive health measures, health promotion, referral to community health resources, patient/family education, therapeutic and rehabilitative aspects will be presented. Discussions/projects for ethical issues and critical thinking are incorporated in the course. Semester Hours: 4 Lecture Hours: 4 Lab Hours: 0 Pre- or Corequisite: Determined by campus of enrollment.
