This course explores the profession of a police officer. Topics include organization of law enforcement systems, the police role, police discretion, ethics, police-community interaction, and current and future issues. Students will understand how ethical standards outlined in the Code of Conduct influence the police role in today’s society. Semester Hours: 3 Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 0 Note: Specific techniques of police patrol tactics and methods will be outlined as selective enforcement procedures are used to accomplish the police mission.
