(4-3-3) After briefly reviewing the fundamentals of the night sky and the nature of light, this course discusses our star (the sun), properties of stars in general, the birth, evolution and death of stars, formation of galaxies, and the possibility of extra-solar intelligence. This course satisfied a general requirement for a laboratory science. Prerequisite: Completion of PHYS 1411 with a grade C or better, plus eligibility to enroll in ENGL 1301.
