(3-2-4) Introduction to the basics of photography. Technical information includes camera operation, negative exposure and development, black and white darkroom techniques, enlarging, composition, flash exposure, lenses, filters, studio lighting, and use of exposure meter. Emphasis is on design, history, and contemporary trends as a means of developing an understanding of photographic aesthetics. Laboratory fee $30. Prerequisite: Eligibility to enroll in READ 0306.
