This course is an introduction to the discipline of English studies. It is intended to prepare students for upper-level coursework in literature, linguistics, composition, and criticism. Topics include research and bibliography preparation; introduction to writing in the discipline; introduction to professional organizations; and opportunities for employment and further study. Students are encouraged to take the course in the fall of the sophomore year. Prerequisite: Six (6) semester hours of English.
