This course is a study of microorganisms especially those that cause human disease. Topics covered are basic microbiology principles; viral, bacterial, and fungal diseases; how the body responds to infections; and antimicrobial treatments. The course is designed for pre-nursing majors and non-science majors. The course will not count toward a biology major or minor. It includes a two-hour laboratory per week. Prerequisites: four (4) hours in general chemistry; four (4) hours in human anatomy and physiology.
