A natural science lecture/laboratory course designed for students who do not intend to major in biology. This course focuses on the function of selected organ systems within the body and how they are altered by various disease processes, such as bacterial and viral infections, hypertension, HIV, cancer, heart disease, hearing loss, visual impairment and Alzheimer's disease. Laboratory exercises reinforce lecture material and promote observation, experimentation and analysis skills. Microcomputers are used in the laboratory. (NSL)
