Emphasis placed on the wildly disparate phases of Soviet and Russian cinema: Russia's silent films; the innovations of the 1920s; Stalinist cinema; "thaw" films; and post-Soviet experimentation. All films shown with subtitles; no knowledge of Russian required. Not offered in 2008-09.
