Gorfinkel Considers the provocative films of international auteurs Michael Haneke, Claire Denis and Jean Pierre and Luc Dardenne in the context of discourses of "art cinema" and film authorship, and in terms of historical and aesthetic traditions of realism and modernism in European cinema, past and present.
