The Archaeology of Iran: From the Neolithic to Alexander the Great P.Magee Examines the Archaeology of Iran and its eastern neighbors from circa 8000 B.C.E. to the coming of Alexander at the end of the fourth century B.C.E. Focus on the emergence of agriculture and urbanism and the appearance of the Achaemenid Empire, examined in the light of contacts with states in Mesopotamia and South Asia and the abilities of the ancient inhabitants of Iran to exploit their environment.
