Issues dealt with include the role in a good life of virtues as states of character, of duty, of pleasure, and of happiness. Readings include Plato's Republic, Aristotle's Nichomachean Ethics, Paul's letters to the Romans and Galatians, Maimonides' Eight Chapters, Kant's Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals, Mill's Utilitarianism, and Murdoch's The Sovereignty of Good.
