M.Gillette Social institutions, cultural idioms, and forms of representation in and of Chinese society over the past 150 years. Through investigations of ethnographic monographs, missionary records, memoirs, and realist fiction, we develop skills in socialgraphs, missionary records, memoirs, and realist fiction, we develop skills in social analysis and cultural critique, and enrich our understanding of contemporary Chinese society.
