The Jewish people have been referred to as the "People of the Book." This course familiarizes students with the arrangement and bibliographic relevance of rabbinic texts. Students will explore a wide range of materials as they relate to Jewish law, or "the halachic process." Coursework includes: rabbinic texts; the Torah and commentary; Mishnah, Talmud, Halachah and the codes, (Mishnah Torah, Arba'ah Turim and Shulchan Aruch, Condensed Versions); Mitzvot and the commandments; Midrash and Aggadah; and Ethics and HashkafDivision: College Division Department: Rabbinics
