This course is designed to achieve the following objectives: 1) A survey of the history that led to the establishment of the state of Israel, 2) An analysis of the multicultural nature of Israel and the quality of its democracy, 3) An examination of the political, social, and economic structures of the state, 4) A review of the Palestinian problem and the Arab-Israeli conflict, 5) An understanding of Israel's role in the modern Middle East within the context of the new international relations system.
