Goal To introduce students to the many varieties of and different methodological approaches to African philosophy. Content Writings by Africans, Europeans, and others that develop, describe, or critique African philosophical systems, including ethnophilosophy, sagacity philosophy, professional philosophy, and liberation theories. Issues raised by the encounters between African and European modes of thought, especially as shaped by the history of European colonialism in Africa, will be important considerations.
