Goal To introduce students to writing from around the world by women and/or focusing on women's issues. To enable students to study literature in a cross-cultural context. Content Fiction, poetry, drama, essays primarily by women and/or about women. Representative writers might include Shikibu, Ama Ata Aidoo, Bessie Head, Gita Mehta, Ruth Prawer Jhabvala, Sawako Ariyoshi,Wang Anyi, Isabelle Allende. Taught Annually Prerequisites WIS 101 or ENG 101 Gen. Ed. Category Critical thinking; cross-cultural. Credit 3 hours; cross-listed as WST 260.
